They say charity begins at home, so we established our Charity of the Year initiative, creating long-term partnerships with charities that matter to our team and local community.
Our charity of the year: The Pink Place
Based in Basingstoke, The Pink Place has been supporting women affected by cancer across North Hampshire since 2010.
According to Cancer Research UK, 1 in 2 of us will get cancer - that’s an alarming statistic.
It doesn’t just affect the person; it affects their family, friends, colleagues and business.
Holistic and wellbeing elements of a cancer patient’s treatment can form an integral part of recovery: treating the whole person, not just the disease itself. That’s where Pink Place comes in; it aims to fill the gap and combat the impact on mental health, anxiety and isolation that comes with a cancer diagnosis.
Through a range of wellbeing services, such as counselling therapies, yoga therapy, mindfulness classes, social activities and peer group support, the charity offers a safe space where no woman needs to face cancer alone.
The charity also has a personal connection with Carman Contracting. Our Financial Director, Kevin Croombs, is a trustee, and through his involvement, we have learnt about the vital, often unseen work this fantastic charity does for women living with cancer in our community.
