Carman Contracting secures multiple court refurbishment projects with Equans
Carman Contracting has won several contracts for long-standing client Equans to deliver essential refurbishment and maintenance works across four Ministry of Justice (MoJ) court facilities.
The projects, which will ensure the courts meet specific operational and compliance requirements, include Wood Green Crown Court, Aldershot, Oxford and Poole Magistrates Courts.
For Wood Green Crown Court, our team will be carrying out an office refit over four weeks, while at Aldershot Magistrates Court, we are installing new panic alarms in the custody suite.
Our most extensive project is at Oxford Magistrates Court and involves comprehensive fire door maintenance over eight weeks, where we will install four new fire doors and do extensive remedial works to ensure all existing doors meet current fire safety standards.
Finally, at Poole Magistrates Court, we will replace steps on the rear elevation to ensure compliance with the Equality Act (DDA) and improve accessibility for all court users. This project is scheduled for completion within two weeks.
Each scheme is being carried out while the courts remain fully operational, requiring Carman’s teams to work out of hours at night to minimise disruption to staff, the public and daily court proceedings.
“These contract wins demonstrate our ability to deliver complex projects in sensitive operational environments,” said James Selwood, Director, Carman Contracting. “Our continued partnership with Equans strengthens our position as a trusted delivery partner for critical public sector infrastructure projects.”
