Carman Contracting secures first contract with
Allegra Care Group at Olive Tree House
Carman Contracting has secured its first contract with Allegra Care Group to strengthen fire safety procedures and guarantee compliance at the Olive Tree House care home.
Olive Tree House is a modern, purpose-built home in Bristol. It provides nursing, respite and specialist dementia care within a welcoming, home-from-home environment. In addition to the 65 bedrooms, lounges and dining rooms, the home’s facilities include a 1960s-themed hair salon and an innovative Memory Lane with a 60s-themed pub, record shop, and village store.
Carman was originally recommended to Allegra Care Group by long-standing client Meridian Cooling. After several meetings between Allegra Care and representatives from Carman Contracting, we have been appointed to deliver a fire door upgrade package within the home. The works will be led by Adam Houghton, Carman’s newly appointed Business Unit Manager and Head of Fire Division, who has played a key role in developing the relationship with Allegra Care Group since joining the company.
The project includes installing three new fire doors, and removing and replacing the existing double-door sets. The team will also install wiring for six new electronic door closers for improved performance. As part of the package, Carman will paint and decorate the door frames and architraves, make good the surrounding areas, and ensure the correct disposal of all the equipment replaced
As with the installation of any new fire doors, the newly installed door sets will be recorded under the BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Door Installation Scheme. A comprehensive OneTrace report will be issued on completion. This cloud-based compliance record will provide full product specifications, installation photographs and details, and a clear record for future maintenance and audit purposes.
The installation and making good works will take about three days. However, the programme will be phased over a week to minimise disruption, as working in a live care home requires sensitive, careful planning. All Carman engineers will have appropriate security clearances, and our Project Manager will conduct a detailed site induction to ensure safe, considerate practices at all times.
This first contract with Allegra Care Group reflects Carman’s growing reputation within the fire safety sector. In addition to the installation works, we have been instructed to undertake a survey of a further 25 fire doors at Olive Tree House while on site. With further opportunities currently under discussion, we look forward to building a trusted partnership with Allegra Care Group across its portfolio of homes.
