Carman Contracting delivers solar carport project at Queen Alexandra Hospital

Exciting work has been going on behind the hoardings at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.

Carman Contracting has just finished a major solar carport project for long-standing client Equans, on behalf of Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.

Located in the hospital’s south car park, our team designed, supplied and installed new solar carport structures supporting a large PV system.

The project scope covered everything, including groundworks and steel structures - which were designed by SIG - as well as the PV installation and associated electrical works. We also installed new lighting under the carport canopies.

Even the hoardings were designed specifically for the project and kept most of the work out of sight. These covered 70% of the carpark area, with panels left open at intervals, as requested by the hospital, so that visitors could see the work underway.

This project is a major step forward in our renewable capabilities. We look forward to sharing further images and details with you shortly, including more about the installation, the challenges involved, and how our team delivered the scheme.
