Carman Contracting completes electrical fit for Julia’s House new Wimborne head office

Carman Contracting has completed a comprehensive electrical fit out for children’s hospice charity Julia’s House, as part of the transformation of a former warehouse in Wimborne into their new head office.

Julia’s House provides practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions in Dorset and Wiltshire.

Carman Contracting worked with long-standing client and fit out specialist Jade Aden Interiors on the new East Street offices, which bring several of Julia’s House operations together, including fundraising, communications, HR, central teams administration and client support, into a single facility.

Our scope of works included a complete electrical package, including power, data, mains upgrade and bespoke lighting, plus safety solutions such as an addressable fire alarm, intruder alarm, and door access system. As part of the works, we also fitted a 27kW three-phase SolarEdge solar PV system.

The fully optimised solar array was designed around the facility's electrical demands. The system is expected to save about 5.6 tonnes of carbon each year, equivalent to the carbon benefit of planting around 256 trees annually. A new roof was installed as part of the conversion to accommodate the array and provide a long-term solution for the building.

Our team completed the works in 12 weeks, working alongside multiple trades to convert the warehouse into a modern, multi-functional office space. This included a new mezzanine floor and completely new internal layout, as well as suspended ceilings, flooring, decoration, air conditioning, and plumbing.

"The location of the site, in a busy high street with no parking by the premises, caused a few logistical issues, but we were able to work around these and complete the project on schedule at the end of July.”
