Carman Contracting completes complex office refurbishment for West 1 Construction
Carman Contracting has completed a 12-week office refurbishment project at Monck Street on behalf of a new client, West 1 Construction.
The scheme involved creating a fully self-contained ground floor office space, separating Units 3–4 from neighbouring Units 5–6. This included dividing and independently reconfiguring key utility supplies such as water and electricity, alongside a full internal refurbishment and relocation of the WC facilities.
We installed a new three-phase split distribution board to serve the updated lighting and power requirements, while new cold-water pipework was introduced to supply the toilet, wash hand basins, shower and kitchen area. Hot water is now delivered via a 100-litre storage tank located within the cleaner’s cupboard. The existing HVAC system was also fully serviced and validated to ensure optimal performance.
In addition, the team installed a new data cabling infrastructure, complete with a patch panel rack, and a new access control system to increase security.
One of the key challenges of the project was maintaining complete operational capacity in Units 5–6 while we carried out refurbishment work in Units 3–4. This demanded careful planning and the successful separation of utility supplies, including water and electricity, to guarantee minimal disruption to the neighbouring occupiers.
Carman Contracting delivered on time and within budget, with West 1 Construction satisfied with both the schedule and final outcome.
This project demonstrates our ability to deliver complex refurbishment projects in live environments, combining technical competency with careful coordination and client-centred delivery.
